Melton residents who roll up to Woodgrove’s wrapping station in coming weeks will be giving a gift to people in need.
From Monday, December 17, until Christmas Eve, Melton council staff will be helping to wrap gifts for a gold coin donation which will help support Hope Street Youth and Family Services.
Hope Street works with young people and young families who are experiencing homelessness.
Woodgrove centre manager Kylie Robertson said partnerships such as this are invaluable and rewarding for all involved, as well as the surrounding community.
“Woodgrove and Melton council are very proud to contribute all funds raised from this wonderful collaborative effort to Hope Street’s work with young people and young families,” Ms Robertson said.
“Together with our community, we hope to provide a great contribution, following last year’s donation of more than $1800 in one week.”
Hope Street chief Donna Bennett encouraged the local community to think of others over the Christmas season.
“It can be a very challenging period for young people who are experiencing homelessness,” Ms Bennett said.
For a gold coin donation, have your gifts wrapped from Monday, December 17, between 10am and 4pm outside Kmart.
