Melton and Moorabool families are being encouraged to get creative in the kitchen and “bake the world a better place”.
The annual Red Cross Big Cake Bake is on again, and organisers are hoping more than 35,000 Australians will take part to improve slightly on last year’s number.
Red Cross community engagement fundraising manager Beth McLean is hoping more men get baking this year.
“Last year, we saw tens of thousands of people bake all sorts of treats to raise money to help people in need at home and abroad,” Ms McLean said.
“Males accounted for eight per cent of Big Cake Bake event hosts in 2015, so it would be great to see more men and boys getting involved for a good cause this year.”
While the official day of celebrations is Friday, October 28, Red Cross says anyone is welcome to organise an event anywhere and at any time throughout October.
The Bacchus Marsh Red Cross team will be hosting a luncheon on Monday, October 17, at Bacchus Marsh West Golf Club, Bacchus Marsh-Balliang Road. After the lunch, there will be a raffle and music.
