More positive charge for electric vehicles in Melton

Two free electric vehicle charging stations have been installed at Cobblebank Indoor Stadium in Melton, providing residents and visitors with a convenient location to recharge their cars.

The charging stations, a 22 kilowatts AC dual port charger and a 25 kilowatts DC fast charger, are compatible with all electric vehicles and models, and allow up to three vehicles to charge at

one time.

Melton Mayor Goran Kesic said with more people opting for electric vehicles, the charging stations provided the infrastructure to support these environmentally friendly choices.

“The installation of the charging stations at Cobblebank Indoor Stadium is a win for residents and visitors alike,” Cr Kesic said.

“The DC fast charger can add up to 150 kilometres extra range in an hour’s charge, while the AC charger will better suit those who are going to be at the stadium over a longer period.”

The charging stations are powered by about 400 solar panels on the roof of the stadium generating 99 kilowatts of solar power.

The stadium also has a 100 per cent renewable electricity contract in place, making the stadium one of the most sustainable buildings within the Melton.

Electric vehicles can be charged using the Chargefox app, which can be downloaded from app stores.

Allocated bays at the stadium are clearly marked for charging only and instructions for use are on the chargers.
