When nine-year-old LJ last competed at the Arencross in Bacchus Marsh at the end of January, he never expected to wake up to his motorbike gone.

In the early hours of Sunday January 30, it is believed someone stole the Husqvarna TC 65 which, even to someone who doesn’t know much about motorbikes, clearly belonged to a child.

LJ, who first started riding when he was six after getting a bike from Santa for Christmas, said the Arencross race was going well.

“…until my bike got stolen,” he said.

“I finished all my races, packed up and…when I woke up my bike was stolen.”

Josh, LJ’s dad, took him to the local police station who said they’d look into it and would be in touch if anything came up.

“We did a lot of searching ourselves, looking on back roads and so forth,” Josh said.

But the search was unsuccessful.

“I don’t feel happy at all about it,” LJ said.

A Go Fund Me page was set up by LJ’s racing friend, Kai, which has a goal of $7500 to replace the bike.

“He’s had a lot of support from the motocross community which has been wonderful,” Josh said.

“You never expect people to show support in that way and when it does happen, it’s very humbling. It makes you feel very good about the world you live in.”

And to the person who took his bike, LJ simply wanted to say: “don’t steal my bike”.
