November 2, 1977

The question of whether Werribee Shire should be classified as Metropolitan or country with regard to packaged beer has been raised before the Liquor Control Commission. Werribee Shire Council has initiated moves to have Werribee Shire included in the metropolitan area for the purposes of the packaged beer pricing by the Liquor Control Commission.

When a man and his two companions pass quickly and quietly through Werribee, not many people would take much notice. The State Government will pour more than $400,000 into repairing damaged and dilapidated primary and secondary schools in the City of Wyndham, but some will still need extra work. The State Minister for Education, Mr Gude announced last week Wyndham schools would receive $415,000 of an extra
$20.1 million earmarked for school repairs.

Wyndham Council last week postponed its legal action against the six remaining boatshed occupiers at the Werribee South Foreshore Reserve yet to sign one of its three-year licences. However, the council has set a new deadline of July 1 next year, after which, it says, the occupiers will no longer have any legal entitlements to remain on the site.
