Cheers for grand chase

Autism Plus Melton recently took home a $10,000 cheque at the TAB Great Chase Grand Final.

About 45 disability and aged care organisations were invited to The Meadows to enjoy an afternoon of racing hospitality and the chance to share in $24,000 in cash prizes.

Disability support worker Carmel Grogan said the $10,000 prize, which was drawn from a barrel, will make a huge difference to Autism Plus.

“It’s better than Christmas. It means we’ll be able to provide so many more programs, go out on more outings. It will be so beneficial for our guys,” Ms Grogan said.

“The participants loved the huge cheque, being part of the spotlight and getting to pat the winning puppy, giving her lots of hugs and kisses just because we could.”

Ms Grogan said the great chase provided a great day to mix with others in the community.

Participants from Autism Plus have developed a wish list of items they would like to get with the prize money. They range from a double decker bus trip to a sand pit or sensory garden.

“We would like to thank everyone, it
was a wonderful day and we truly appreciate the opportunity to be involved,” Ms Grogan said.
