SUNBURY remains unbeaten this season after defeating a determined Bacchus Marsh by 23 points in Ballarat Football League at the weekend.
The eastern Lions were challenged by the improving Cobras but showed their class to win 10.16 (76) to 7.10 (52) at Maddingley Park.
Sunbury had the better of the first term, with six goals to Bacchus Marsh’s two.
Thereafter it was an even contest, with the Cobras even taking the ascendancy at times.
Sunbury skipper Jay Cheep was impressive, providing the leadership that allowed the visitors to keep the Cobras at bay.
Bacchus Marsh coach David Callander was deflated by his team’s inaccuracy in front of goal but happy with the effort. “
We moved the ball well, spread it out of the stoppages and that got us flowing, but we couldn’t convert.”
Callander was delighted with defender Leigh Wilson’s game, while captain Tyson Shea was excellent again, as was Matt Denham.
