A MAN who was wrongly declared dead by paramedics after a car crash in Bacchus Marsh last month has left hospital.
Daniel Huf, 30, was declared dead by two paramedics who then left the scene before an
SES volunteer noticed him moving inside the wreckage of his crumpled Porsche on April 1.
Mr Huf’s parents Colin and Elizabeth and his younger brother Steven said the two paramedics, who had returned, performed lifesaving treatment on Daniel before he was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
“We know it’s a miracle that Daniel can walk, read, speak some recognisable words, write logical messages and recognise his visitors,” Colin Huf said last week.
Associate Professor Chris MacIsaac, deputy director of the hospital’s intensive care unit, said staff held grave concerns for Daniel when he was admitted. “He made remarkable progress during his ICU stay and all staff were delighted to see him improve enough to move to a ward,” Professor MacIsaac said.
The family did not comment on the prospect of legal action, which Ambulance Victoria chief executive Greg Sassella said last month had been discussed within the organisation as a matter of course.
