MELTON Thoroughbreds came back to earth after their opening-round win in men’s division 2 after Craigieburn handed out a 29-point defeat at the weekend.
Home court advantage counted for little as the Eagles turned a four-point quarter-time lead into 17 at half-time and went on with the job in the second half, winning 71-52.
Melton shot just 32 per cent from the field and got into foul trouble, Jason Christian fouling out.
The Thoroughbreds did match the boards with Craigieburn and even finished ahead on the turnover count but struggled to come back from a first half where they made just eight of 34 shots from the field.
The Thoroughbreds will next play in Hawthorn against Maccabi on Sunday, April 15.
