Moorabool council has again called out state and federal governments for failing to fund the Bacchus Marsh roads project.
Moorabool’s chief executive Rob Croxford said both governments have said they were willing to fund ready-to-go infrastructure projects in their 2015-16 budgets but despite the council having suitable projects there has been no cash.
“The Bacchus Marsh package of road works fits the bill perfectly,” Mr Croxford said.
“It is absolutely vital to the town and we have the designs and concepts for a fully-linked road network … but the lack of funding for the Halletts Way ramps is impeding our vision.”
Last Week Star Weekly reported on the council’s search for a “missing” $38 million promised for the works by the previous state government.
“Council has had the designs done, we are ready to go on the project – but we have the other two levels of government pointing the finger at each other about who has the money to get it done.”
Last week, Prime Minister Tony Abbott announced $35 million for shovel-ready, infrastructure and employment projects while state Premier Daniel Andrews, in the state budget, put up more than $600 million for congested roads.
“We have a project, shovel-ready, that is imperative to the future of Bacchus Marsh,” Mr Croxford said.
