MOORABOOL’S Bostock Reservoir will be closed to the public from today until Friday as works on a $1.3 million upgrade continue.
Barwon Water general manager of infrastructure services Paul Northey said the upgrade would include the replacement of a 280-metre pipeline under the reservoir embankment and an underwater valve.
“The project is part of a works program to increase supply to the Upper Stony Creek reservoirs located in the East Moorabool water supply system,” he said.
“The existing pipeline and outlet valve have deteriorated and need to be replaced.”
The reservoir will be closed while divers undertake specialist work.
After the closure, other construction works will be carried out Monday to Friday between 7am and 5pm and on Saturdays between 7am and 1pm, but the public will still be able to access the picnic and fishing areas.
The project is expected to be completed mid-year.
The reservoir, off Shaws Road in Ballan, supplies customers in greater Geelong and holds almost 7500 million litres.
