MELTON’S Nicholas Benca will hot-foot it to the Australian junior athletics championships in Perth, having qualified for the state athletics team.
The year 9 Catholic Regional College student (pictured) is thrilled to be representing Victoria in the 2000 metres steeplechase at Friday’s titles.
The 14-year-old joined Melton South Little Athletics centre aged five, then Essendon Athletics Club in 2012.
He loves the challenge of long-distance running. “When I go out for a run, I am always happier and my mind is clearer.”
