Rockbank aiming to raise much needed funds

Rockbank is putting out a call to arms to help ensure the survival of the club.

The club is hosting a debt demolition community day with the hopes to raise money to help pay off some of its debt.

It’s no secret that Rockbank has struggled on and off the field in recent years in the Riddell District Football Netball League.

Those on the committee are doing everything they can to ensure the club will be in existence next year, for its 101st year.

Rams president Mark Smith said if they don’t raise that money, it would be a dire situation for the club.

He said they were determined to keep the club going and were planning for next season.

“It’s about the club’s survival,” he said. “We want the club to survive and grow so there is somewhere for the local community.”

With that in mind, the club is hosting a community day at Ian Cowie Reserve, on October 20.

Entry is by gold coin donation.

Running from 10am, the day will include food trucks, market stalls and car boot sales.

There will also be kids rides and amusements, and various raffles to help raise some money for the club.

There is also the opportunity to purchase a brick to put your name on which will go in the clubrooms.

The club is also still selling books about the history of the club, made to mark it centenary year.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up by one of the players for anyone looking to donate to the cause and help the Rams.

It was set up to help pay fees owed to the league.
