Melton Phoenix bounced back in a big way in the FV state league 5 west on Saturday against the Deakin Ducks.

Coming off their first loss of the season, the Phoenix responded in the best possible way with a 3-0 win.

Matthew Pernasilici opened the scoring in the third minute of the game to set the momentum.

Skipper Lachlan Stafford doubled the margin with 30 minutes.

The icing on the cake came in the 62nd minute through Alex Dimond.

The Phoenix sit third after four rounds.

Meanwhile, in state league 1 north-west Caroline Springs George Cross continued its winning start to the season.

Facing neighbouring Sydenham Park, scores were locked at 1-1 at half time. A Jason Hart goal in the 77th minute would put the Georgies in front for the first time and it was enough to seal the 2-1 win.

The Georgies are one of two undefeated teams after four rounds. The Georgies sit on top with four wins, compared to Altona City which has two wins and two draws.

In state league 4 west, Westside Strikers sit second on the table after a good win against Laverton.

The Strikers did most of the damage in the first half through goals to Mateusz Kowalski, Raffael Origlia and Jordan Borg.

Milan Savic put the icing on the cake in the second half to seal a 4-0 win.

At the other end of the table, Spring Hills remain without a win.

The Stallions lost 1-0 to Greenvale United, with United scoring the win in the dying minutes.

All state league competitions will be in action across the Easter weekend.
