Melton South’s Paul Curtis capped off a stunning year finishing equal third in the Western Jets best and fairest.
Curtis, who was drafted by North Melbourne, had a stunning season season up forward.
Williamstown CYMS’ Liam Conway claimed the best and fairest award.
Conway starred in the middle of the ground for the Jets, averaging more than 27 possessions a game across his eight games.
He provided plenty of drive forward, averaging more than seven inside 50s a game while kicking three goals for the season.
Conway claimed the award ahead of defender Zac Pritchard. The Yarraville-Seddon Eagles young gun regularly took the opposition’s best forward and closed them down, being a key pillar of the backline.
Curtis and Nash Reynolds rounded out the top three, finishing equal third.
Curtis, a live wire up forward, provided plenty of highlights for the Jets fans throughout 2021. His third place finish came despite missing a couple of games through Vic Metro duties.
Curtis, from Melton South, was one of two Jets taken in the AFL draft, picked by North Melbourne at pick 35. The other was Caroline Springs Cody Raak, who was taken as a rookie by the Western Bulldogs.
Reynolds, the side’s vice-captain, also won the trainers award.
The two awards were recognition of the Darley player’s work, including always setting the tone on the training track and working hard throughout the midfield.
In other awards, Harrison Schumann won the coaches award, Caroline Springs’ Dylan Laurie won the most improved award and Point Cook’s Joshua Kuppen won the best clubman award.
