Clayton ton is the real deal for St Anthonys

St Anthonys skipper Cameron Clayton has enjoyed a day out with the bat in Gisborne and District Cricket Association Johnstone Shield District Firsts.

Coming in early after the fall of a quick wicket against East Sunbury, Clayton spent the rest of the day at the crease.

He smacked 185 not out, including 23 fours and two sixes.

Clayton’s fourth century of the season took his average to 106.63. He’s scored 853 runs in 13 innings.

Opener Justin Craven was the next best with 49 as the Saints made 323.

Eynesbury Eagles had one of their best days of the season in their match against Rupertswood.

Rupertswood was bowled out for 262, with young Eagles bowler Josh Oldfield taking 4-22 off his 10 overs.

The Eagles spent 25 minutes at the crease before stumps, finishing on 0-30.

Gisborne has already claimed first-innings points against Ashfield, while Bacchus Marsh is 2-32 in reply to Riddell’s 147.

In the McIntyre Cup, Diggers Rest Bulla has claimed first-innings points against Wallan.

The Burras bowled the Magpies out for 129, with Rhys Berry taking 4-50.

The fifth-placed Burras were 3-167 at stumps, Kane Shaw top-scoring with
45.

Ladder leader Bacchus Marsh has a fight on its hands if it is to beat Sunbury in their two-day match.

The Bulls had one of their worst days with the bat for the season and were bowled out for 131.

Daniel Lalor top-scored with 32, while Sunbury veteran Jason McGann took 5-28.

After battling with the bat, Sunbury was 6-78 at stumps.

Madushanka Ekanayaka took 3-34 from 12 overs, while Ian Spiteri grabbed two wickets.

Woodend had a day out with the bat against Sunbury United, making 475.

Nick Smith hit 102 as five Woodend batsmen made half centuries.

Gisborne made 7-204 against Romsey in the battle between second and third.

Brook Grumont had his best bat of the season, making 42.
