Big weekend for Bacchus Marsh

Bacchus Marsh Lions women’s side made it four from four with back-to-back wins on the road, while the men’s side split their games in the Country Basketball League north-west.

Making the biggest road trip in the division, the Lions women started with a win against the Mildura Heat on Saturday night, winning 75-63.

The Lions won the game in the third quarter as they took a one point deficit and turned it into a 16 point lead.

Jordan Wilson top scored with 22 points.

They backed it up on Sunday, with a 100-59 point win against the Swan Hill Flyers.

The Lions led by 21 points at quarter time and were able to maintain a big margin for the rest of the game.

Every Lions player scored, with six players scoring double figures led by Jelena Savic.

The Lions men’s side also started the weekend with a win against the Heat on Saturday night.

Bacchus Marsh led by 10 points at quarter time and were able to hold that margin for the first half.

It increased to 18 points at three quarter time before they won 98-83.

Mayuol Makuac top scored with 32 points.

The Lions ran out of legs in the second match against the Flyers.

The Flyers led by three points at half time before the Lions won the third quarter to lead by five points at three quarter time. The Flyers finished the stronger of the teams, winning 103-99/

Makuac top scored with 24 points.

Melton Thoroughbreds men are still without a win after three rounds.

On Saturday night, the Thoroughbreds faced the Castlemaine Cannons.

The Thoroughbreds led by nine points at quarter time before the Cannons turned it on in the middle two quarters to lead by 27 points at the last break.

The final quarter was more even, but the damage was done with the Cannons winning 82-56.

Dillion Manning top scored with 21 points.

The Thoroughbreds women had a bye.
