Ballarat CA

It was a less than ideal start for Darley in the Ballarat Cricket Association on Saturday.

Last season’s grand finalists were easily beaten by East Point on the first day of the season.

The Lions won the toss and elected to bat and got off to a solid start before finishing 8-180. Hasitha Wickramasinghe top scored with 42. East Ballarat made the runs with ease, finishing 1-182 with eight overs remaining. The Lions this Saturday face Brown Hill.

EDFL

There could be two new teams in the Essendon District Football League next season. The EDFL board last week approved the applications of Deer Park and St Albans to join the competition for 2023. The Western Region Football League, where the two teams currently play, has a period of 10 days to decide whether to object to the two applications, with AFL Victoria to have the final decision. Both teams have been playing in WRFL division 1.

GDCA

In the Jensen Shield, St Anthonys hosts Bacchus Marsh, Hanging Rock hosts the Sunbury Kangaroos and Malmsbury plays Blackwood.

VSDCA
