The third and final instalment in a cluster of St Anthony’s versus Bacchus Marsh matches in the Gisborne District Cricket Association arrives this weekend when the sides face off in a McIntyre Cup one-dayer.
As rain set in, not enough overs were bowled on Saturday to keep the two-day game between the teams going into this weekend.
St Anthony’s holds bragging rights heading into the match after upstaging Bacchus Marsh in the Gisborne District Cricket Association Twenty20 competition last Tuesday.

Both teams entered the clash as a reigning champion, with Bacchus Marsh winning premier division last season and St Anthony’s winner of the district division.
Yet it was the last-placed McIntyre Cup outfit that won the battle, 7-124 to 110.
Cameron Lewis (39) and Michael Yates (28no) guided St Anthony’s to a competitive total before Warren Haffenden (3-16), Adam Fleming (2-15) and Rod Oosterhoff (2-39) did the damage with the ball.
The result leaves Bacchus Marsh needing to beat Woodend in its second and final pool game tonight and get favourable results elsewhere.
St Anthony’s is away at Riddell.
Riddell, Sunbury United and Sunbury were other premier division winners in the opening pool games.
That means one of St Anthony’s or Riddell is guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals, with other matches tonight being Sunbury United versus Wallan and Sunbury versus Romsey.
Elsewhere in McIntyre Cup, Riddell reached 4-219 against Woodend off only 52 overs. Wallan (6-105) captured first-innings points on the opening day against Sunbury United (80). Sunbury (1-61) is well on the way to chasing down Romsey’s 103.
In B-grade, Riddell’s match against Macedon was the only one to see any significant action. Diggers Rest Bulla Village will play Sunbury United in a one-dayer this weekend.
In Twenty20 district division, Tylden could be the surprise contender for the title after securing one of the opening round’s biggest wins. Tylden posted 8-164 batting first before bowling out Hesket for 106.
Tim (28) and Michael Chew (25no) kept the runs ticking over after a 3-11 collapse in the middle order left Tylden 4-61. Rodney Clifford (2-14), Adam Chew (2-18) and Michael Chew (2-11) led the bowling for Tylden.
Diggers Rest Bulla Village held on in a tight finish as its 8-128 beat East Sunbury’s 8-122.
Mark Jackson (32no) top scored for Diggers Rest, while Brady Penticoss (3/19) was best of the East Sunbury bowlers.
No batsman passed 22 in East Sunbury’s chase, with Paul Deeble (3-19) the best of the Burras bowlers.
The winner of Diggers Rest Bulla Village versus Ashfield is guaranteed to make the semi-finals when the teams square off in the second and final pool game tonight.
Other matches pit Rupertswood against East Sunbury, Gisborne against Tylden, and Lancefield against Macedon.
