Ballarat NL: Melton Bloods out of the race

Melton’s hopes of going one better than last year’s A grade netball runner-up spot were dashed on Sunday as the Bloods bowed out to North Ballarat City in the Ballarat Netball League.

Melton led early in a nip-and-tuck first half but was left behind
by a North City third-quarter burst to lose 49-45 at Eastern Oval in the
first semi-final.

A 12-8 third quarter gave North Ballarat City a cushion against Melton’sattempts to close the deficit in the final quarter.

Jordyn Bibby (35 goals) starred for North City, while Melissa McCauley scored 34 goals for Melton.

Sunbury advanced straight to the grand final with a 57-36 win in the second semi-final against East Point, which will play North Ballarat City in this weekend’s preliminary final.

Moorabool’s only remaining side in the netball is the Bacchus
Marsh C-grade outfit, which stayed alive with a one-goal win against
Ballarat in the first semi-final on Sunday. The Cobras will play East
Point in the preliminary final, with Redan waiting for the winner in the decider.

In B grade, Sunbury will play the winner of this weekend’s preliminary final between Redan and East Point.
