Famous local resident Wandi the dingo will make an online appearance with Melton library this month.
Known as the dingo who was taken by an eagle and dropped into a backyard, Wandi was the inspiration for a popular new junior fiction novel by award-winning author Favel Parrett.
The two will celebrate the launch of Parrett’s book, Wandi, via a special online event for the Melton community.
Also featured during the session will be friends from the Dingo Discovery Sanctuary in Toolern Vale where Parrett is a volunteer and also where Wandi lives.
Mayor Goran Kesic encouraged young readers to join the special event.
“Wandi the dingo is a much-loved City of Melton resident and this is a great chance to meet him and learn about his incredible story of survival,” Cr Kesic said.
“I know many young readers and animal lovers will enjoy reading Wandi’s story and hearing from award-winning author Favel Parrett. I’d encourage you all to join this special online event.”
The official launch of Wandi will be live streamed via the Melton City Libraries Facebook page on Saturday November 20 at 11am.
Two prize packs will be awarded for the best book review and best drawing of Wandi.
