She’s volunteered in poverty-stricken communities overseas, worked with younger girls on helping them improve their self-esteem, and regularly amplifies the voices of other students at her school.
“I’ve been provided with a lot of opportunities from a young age through my family,” the 18-year-old says.
“My dad is part of the CFA, so I’ve been involved in that and been able to witness a lot of volunteering.”
Victoria, a year 12 student at Melton Christian College, received a VCE Leadership Excellence Award at an awards ceremony last Friday. The awards are given to VCE students who are actively involved in volunteering and leadership programs throughout their community.
A strong proponent for female empowerment and education, Victoria has worked hard in Cambodia and in her local community.
“I’ve been given the opportunity that a lot of other girls around the world haven’t,” the Eynesbury teenager says.
Victoria hopes to study bachelors of international development and global studies at Australian Catholic University, and work overseas in programs targeting education, poverty and sanitation.
