United signings continue

Western United have continued their momentum from a strong debut season, signing three key players ahead of the next campaign.

Experienced defender Andrew Durante headlines the re-signings, with the A-League games record holder committing to the club for the 2020-21 season.

“I’m really excited to be signing on for another season,” Durante said.

“We have a really special group of players and staff here and for me, it’s a joy and a privilege to come into training every day and push myself and the others around me.

“I can’t wait to get going again and continue to help grow this football club to achieve success both on and off the park.”

The 2008 Joe Marston Medallist is set to add to his 339 game tally in what will be his 16th A-League season.

General manager of football Ante Kovacevic said it was an easy decision to re-sign the experienced defender.

“Durante’s record speaks for itself. His longevity in the game is a benefit to the club on and off the field,” Kovacevic said

“He was ever-present in the starting 11 throughout last season, and it was a simple decision to ensure Andrew was part of our team for a second year.

“His professionalism, experience and leadership qualities are important amongst our younger players and the team as a whole as we continue to develop and strive for finals football once again.”

United has also secured the services of defender Tomoki Imai for another season, while Lachlan Wales has also joined the club from Melbourne City on a two-year deal.
