They’re all four fun

Fancy a bit of four-wheel driving with a touch of adventure?

Citywest 4×4 Club is recruiting new members interested in exploring Victoria’s beautiful off-roading spots.

The president of the Melton West club, David Goodes said that four-wheeling opened up a “new world” when he toured the likes of Wombat State Forest, the Pyrenees and the Victorian high country.

Mr Goodes , who has been involved with the club for 12 of its 15 years, said a main aim was to change negative perceptions.

“People sometimes think that we’re bush bashers driving through forests – but that’s not the case,” he said.

“The club was established to provide members with the opportunity to drive through all those areas that, by heritage and by law, are available for four-wheel driving and associated leisure activities.

“We wanted people to have an opportunity to gain experience and expertise in the use of four-wheel drive vehicles, while also ensuring that road safety, the preservation of the environment and natural resources and the safety of the public are understood and respected.”

The club has 40 members, ranging from those in their late 20s through to retirees, Mr Goodes said.

The Citywest 4×4 Club meets every second Tuesday of the month.
