Life just got a whole lot easier for book lovers who live in Atherstone estate and Melton South.

Melton council, in partnership with Lendlease Communities, has set up a library access point at the Bridge Road Children’s and Community Centre so resident readers can select, collect, borrow and return books.

Self-service library lockers fitted with screens enable residents to collect library items they have placed on hold without needing to travel to the Melton or Caroline Springs branches.

Books, magazines, audiobooks and DVDs can all be borrowed.

Melton mayor Bob Turner said the process was user-friendly, making borrowing books easier for everyone living in, or near, Atherstone estate.

“Simply join the library, order your items online and collect – it’s easy,” Cr Turner said.

Lendlease Communities managing director Matthew Wallace said he was excited the library project was up and running.
