The Australian Children’s Music Foundation (ACMF) proudly announces the launch of its 23rd annual National Songwriting Competition, continuing its legacy of empowering young Australians through music.
This year’s competition promises to be the biggest yet, with a prize pool valued at over $30,000 aimed at fostering creativity, self-expression, and nurturing the next generation of songwriters.
As the largest national songwriting competition for school-aged children in Australia, ACMF’s National Songwriting Competition removes barriers to entry by ensuring it’s free for all. Open to all school-aged children from kindergarten to Year 12 the competition encourages participation from both schools and individuals. It provides a platform for young people to find their voice, showcase their creativity, and develop their musical talents whether collectively or individually.
“Songwriting is a highly creative process,” said Don Spencer ACMF founder and CEO.
“We must encourage creativity in children so that they can reach their full potential. This competition provides a unique opportunity for them to find their voice, build confidence, and discover the joy of music.”
The competition has a proven track record of identifying and supporting emerging talent. Past winners, including Bailey Pickles, TikTok sensation and composer for 2024’s VIVID, and Lucy Parle, winner of the 2020 International Songwriting Competition and Triple J Unearthed recognition, both of whom are now on their journey in making careers in music.
