A vibrant new popup park has emerged on Cradle Road in Diggers Rest, and will be available to enjoy for the next 12 months.
Melton Mayor Goran Kesic and Sunbury MP Josh Bull visited the newly finished park on Thursday, October 6.
Councillor Kesic said the park was now ready for families to enjoy.
“The pop-up park provides a bright and fun space for people of all ages to meet and socialise, while also bringing more business to nearby local shops, he said.
“An excellent feature of this park is that it’s accessible, with a free flowing design including ramps for wheelchair access.”
The Diggers Rest popup park at Cradle Road Reserve was funded by the Victorian Government from the COVID Safe Outdoor Activation Fund.
This fund enabled more than $500,000 of outdoor activation projects, including events and performances across many locations in the City of Melton.
Mr Bull said the intention of the fund was to get people out and about in their communities.
“It’s all a part of the recovery program as we come out of a really tough couple of years,” he said.
The park was already being enjoyed by Michelle Barron-Mell and her grandson Miles.
“It’s great, it’s great for the kids to play on,” Ms Barron-Mell said.
