Police hunt for missing puppies

The owner of a litter of six-week-old boxer puppies taken from a Melton house is appealing for help to find his beloved pets.

The six pups were at their Tern Court home when a man arrived at the house claiming he had bought them and arranged with their owner Matthew Perry to pick them up.

Mr Perry wrote on a residents’ group Facebook page that the man was in a silver Mitsubishi Triton.

“My father being the only one home, as I was playing cricket, greeted the male at the front door … then the male proceeded to make up a story telling my dad that he had just spoken with me and was here to pick up the litter of six boxer pups.

“He actually started by saying, ‘Hi John, I’ve just spoken with Matt on the phone and I’m here to pick up all the pups’.”

Mr Perry said his elderly father led the man through the house and all six pooches were taken.

“I am absolutely gutted and devastated at what has happened,” he said. “I’m more than happy for them [to] … simply drop them off in a box at my front door or even somehow put them back in the room out the back.”

News of the missing puppies has gone viral with Mr Perry’s story being shared more than 1000 times.

Dog lovers from as far as Western Australia are on the lookout for the puppies.

Melton Police released CCTV images of a silver Mitsubishi Triton twin-cab ute and are keen to talk to anybody who may be able to help to identify the driver.

Police said the puppies were not old enough for collection.
