Packed with care

Dedicated local carers and the people they care for can register to receive special care packs from Melton council in place of usual Carers Week celebrations.

Melton council will distribute its CARE Melton packs as part of its work to enhance people’s social, physical and emotional wellbeing, and to recognise locals who care for a family member or friend with a disability or who is aged.

The CARE packs will include a range of items and vouchers, including information from peak bodies such as Centrelink, National Disability Insurance Agency and My Aged Care.

Melton chief executive Kelvin Tori said the care packs were designed to support the wellbeing of residents who give or receive care.

“Our residents who are older, have a disability or care for others each face unique challenges and we want to ensure they are well-supported,” Mr Tori said.

“These care packs will provide residents with resources to promote their physical and emotional wellbeing, and contain valuable information about the services available to them.

“With state government restrictions preventing our annual CARE Melton Expo and National Carers Week celebrations from going ahead this year, we hope that this initiative will make a difference to our residents.”

Carers, people with a disability and seniors living in the Melton municipality can check their eligibility for a care pack by visiting trybooking.com/BLJIH or calling 9747 5310. Numbers are limited.
