People in the Moorabool region can expect to lose internet connection for periods of time over the next few weeks.

Works are under way on a tower in Lal Lal, which is part of the nbn Fixed Wireless network for the area, in an effort to upgrade it.

The works mean the tower will need to be taken temporarily offline, impacting homes and businesses and their ability to use their nbn service.

The upgrade will provide access to faster speeds and extended coverage to those in the area.

Head of nbn Local Victoria Emily Peel said the outages were a necessary development and would ensure improved services moving forward.

“These tower works are critical to the delivery of our program,” she said.

“There is increasing demand for faster internet from homes and businesses across Australia and we are continuing to invest in the nbn network to stay ahead of demand.”

She thanked the community for its understanding.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate the community’s patience while the work is under way.”

Faster download speeds during the busy period (usually 7pm – 11pm) are anticipated to become available once the upgrade is complete.

The tower works will not impact nbn fixed line or nbn Sky Muster satellite services.
