The Melton Vaccination Hub at the former Bunnings site is one of ten vaccination centres across Melbourne taking part in a Moderna vaccination blitz.

The hubs began administering the Moderna vaccine on Monday with the aim of delivering 100,000 doses by Sunday to anyone aged 12 to 59 years of age.

It comes as Premier Daniel Andrews announced all workers on the authorised worker list in Melbourne and regional Victoria will require their first COVID-19 vaccine dose by October 15 in order to continue working onsite and will need to be fully vaccinated by November 26.

“All of our health workers are working their guts out to be there for us and they need us all to do our bit and get vaccinated, so we can continue on our pathway to opening,” he said.

Mr Andrews said with supply of the vaccine finally becoming widely available, all workers who aren’t able to do their essential work from home can be protected, helping protect our health system from being overwhelmed.

“Our nurses, doctors, ambos and all of our health workers are working their guts out to be there for us and they need us all to do our bit,” he said

Health minister Martin Foley said groups like construction, freight, healthcare, aged care and education will still have to comply with previous advice.

“If you’ve been putting it off or waiting to get vaccinated, don’t wait any longer,” he said.

“The best vaccine is the vaccine you can get today and we all need to do our bit to protect the community and get back to the things we love.”

Over the next week there are also 13,000 first dose Pfizer appointments available and 8000 first dose Astra Zeneca appointments available through the state-run system.

Victorians can also book a vaccine appointment through their GP or pharmacist where many more appointments are available.
