Residents should bookmark the “big red tent” as the Movin’ Round Melton activity program hits town centres around the municipality this summer.
The free pop-up library initiative supports Melton council’s summer reading series by hosting outdoor activity days involving readings, games and crafts.
Outreach librarian Hayley Martin said the most recent pop-up events – in Woodlea, Taylors Hill and Bridge Road – attracted about 100 children.
“We’ve been to every little township and the response has been excellent,” Ms Martin said.
“It’s all about continuing their love for reading in the off season and a love for books.”
The theme, “game on”, includes a decoding challenge using an iPad in a teepee, sustainable seedling activities and badge making.
The next pop-up library will be this Thursday at Diggers Rest Kindergarten Playground from 9.30am.
