Man’s face slashed during Melton home invasion

Police are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary with shots fired at an address in Melton South last month.

Investigators have been told four men armed with a rifle, a machete and a baton forced entry into the Fraser Street premises about 4am on Monday, April 24.

Once inside, the men, all wearing balaclavas and masks, fired gunshots and made demands for a safe, drugs and cash.

When the occupants stated there were no drugs or cash on the premises, all three people inside the property at the time, a man and two women, were assaulted.

A 31-year-old man was conveyed to hospital to be treated for a significant knife wound to his face.

A 44-year-old woman and a 67-year-old woman suffered minor injuries.

The four intruders subsequently located a safe, and stole jewellery.

They then fled, stealing a white Volkswagen Polo from the address, which was later located burnt out in North Shore.

Detectives have identified another vehicle used by the offenders as a White Mazda CX-5 with a sticker on the back windscreen.

Police have released CCTV and images of the Mazda in the hope someone may recognise it and be able to provide information on its whereabouts.

Investigators are keen to speak to anyone with any knowledge of the incident on Monday, April 24 or who may have been in the area and has dashcam footage.

Police believe the incident was targeted.

Anyone who recognises the car or who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
