Keep Australia Beautiful week

Keep Australia Beautiful (KAB) is encouraging Australians, including those from Melton and Moorabool, to take action to reduce their waste and litter ahead of KAB Week.

This year the campaign will run for the 51st year in a row from August 7 to August 13, and raises awareness about environmental sustainability.

The week involves educating Australians and inspiring simple behavioural changes to limit daily environmental impact which will help to slow landfill growth and cut harmful greenhouse gases.

KAB chief executive officer Val Southam said she hopes the small changes made during KAB Week will form new habits which will inspire others to do the same.

“We are really excited to see the creative ways in which Australians will participate in this challenge,” Ms Southam said.

“We encourage all Australians to become engaged in caring for our environment and its biodiversity.”

This year KAB Week is challenging Australian households, businesses, and schools to refuse, rot, reduce, reuse, recycle or renew, and share the stories about how they have successfully reduced their waste.

KAB said participants can create videos, photos or share posts on social media to show how they’ve engaged with the spirit of the week.
