Info sessions for High Street upgrade

Three busy intersections are about to be upgraded along High Street in Melton, and are holding information sessions this week for residents to learn about the project.

The state government is investing $17 million to improve the High Street and Coburns Road, High Street and Norton Drive, and High Street and Holland Drive intersections.

The existing roundabout at the High Street and Coburns Road intersection will be replaced with new traffic lights to make it easier to navigate.

New traffic lights and signalised pedestrian crossings at High Street and Norton Drive will also improve access to the Melton Industrial Estate.

The High Street and Holland Drive intersection will undergo minor widening works to cater for heavy vehicles turning on to High Street or Holland Drive.

Locals are encouraged to attend this week’s community information sessions for more information about the upgrade.

The sessions will be held at the Woodgrove Shopping Centre near Coles on Thursday February 16, 3.30pm-6.30pm and Saturday, February 18, from 10am to 1pm.

Exact dates of the upgrades are yet to be confirmed.

Melton MP Steve McGhie said the works will make it “safer and easier for motorists to travel”.

“Melton is a thriving community, and these works will provide a huge benefit to the area, so I encourage locals to attend the upcoming community information sessions,” he said.
