Funding for CCTV promised

CCTV cameras will be delivered across the Melton municipality if the Labor Party is to win the federal election.

Labor candidate for the seat of Gorton, Alice Jordan-Baird, has announced that a re-elected Labor government will invest $1 million to deliver CCTV cameras across the municipality.

It’s hoped the $1 million election commitment will strengthen community safety across Gorton, including in Caroline Springs, Aintree and Rockbank, ensuring residents feel safer and more supported.

“Our community deserves to be safe,” Ms Jordan-Baird said.

“Labor is making sure people in Caroline Springs, Aintree, Rockbank and the surrounding suburbs feel safe in our community.

“This $1 million investment is about addressing the issues that matter most to people in Gorton.”

The Labor party has also promised to support the expansion of vital community

support services for the Ethiopian-Australian community at St Michael’s Church, Ravenhall.

Ravenhall.

Ms Jordan-Baird, Hawke MP Sam Rae and Fraser MP Dr Daniel Mulino have announced $50,000 election commitment will help the church expand its programs to better

support young people and families with tailored services including language assistance,

community events and youth outreach.

Labor said this investment recognises the important work St Michael’s Church does to support

members of the Ethiopian-Australian community across Melbourne’s west – and ensures they have the resources to grow that work even further.

“St Michael’s Church plays a vital role in supporting the Ethiopian-Australian community in

Melbourne’s west,” Ms Jordan-Baird said. “This funding will help it grow that work and reach even more people.”

Mr Rae said it was a fantastic investment, while Dr Mulino said the church already does so much to support families, youth and elderly.
