Colourful explosions and running fun were enjoyed at Melton and Caroline Springs schools last week.
Melton Primary School and Southern Cross Grammar students hosted their second annual School Run 4 Fun Colour Explosion last Friday.
After a successful inaugural event last year, Southern Cross this year raised $7000 with hopes of reaching $10,000 to fund the purchase of new equipment.
Participants were sprayed with non-toxic colour powder while making their way through a giant inflatable arch on the school oval.
Games and market stalls and prizes were among the highlights of the day.
Parents and Friends Association member Joanne Camilleri said the event was a great way to get the students engaged with their local community for a good cause.
Southern Cross stepped up its fundraising efforts by enlisting professionals to collect on its behalf, in addition to the work of its own school volunteers .
Melton Primary School raised $19,000.
