Group grants up for grabs

Melton and Moorabool councils and community groups have under a month to apply for a share in $200 million of grants to go towards activities, events or infrastructure projects.

Groups can apply before November 15 for funding, from the state’s Building Better Regions Fund, under two streams – community investment and infrastructure projects.

Each stream funds projects and initiatives up to $10 million with minimum funding amounts starting at $5000 for the community investment stream and $20,000 for the infrastructure projects stream.

Regional Development Australia Melbourne chair Steve Kozlowski said the fund helps to get local projects off the ground.

“Round three funding has opened and we’re calling on not-for-profit organisations and agencies to put their hat in the ring and apply for a grant to channel more investment in our local economy and build better outcomes,” Mr Kozlowski said.

He said that more than $8.7 million had already been allocated to infrastructure and community projects, including close to $3 million towards the construction of the Eynesbury Recreation Reserve which will feature recreational facilities, including an adventure playground, barbecue facilities and walking paths
