Firefighters battled a large grass and scrub fire in Mount Cottrell yesterday.
Crews were called to the incident on Dohertys Road at 5.30pm.
Thirty-six appliances from western Victorian brigades attended, along with multiple vehicles from Metropolitan Fire Brigade.
CFA and MFB firefighters worked together with the assistance of two Helitak fire tanks to battle the blaze.
About 86 hectares was burned in the blaze and was under control by 8.15pm.
Crews were on scene for an extended period of time mopping up and monitoring hot spots.
