Bacchus Marsh train passengers will have more room thanks to three new V/Locity carriages for commuters on a weekday service.
The 5.35pm train from Southern Cross Station to Bacchus Marsh will have the additional carriages.
Kororoit MP Marlene Kairouz said that capacity had been doubled on the busy service to reduce crowding and get more passengers home from work, school or a day out.
“We’re doubling the number of seats on the train to reduce crowding and carry more passengers on this busy evening service,” Ms Kairouz said.
“The extra carriages will make the journey home more comfortable for local passengers.
“Passengers getting on these trains in Deer Park and Caroline Springs can look forward to having more room on the way to Bacchus Marsh.”
Last week’s announcement comes as 27 new V/Locity carriages have been added to the network in the past year.
The carriages have been added to services on the busiest lines across the network, including the major commuter corridors of the Bendigo, Traralgon, Geelong and Ballarat lines.
The 2017-18 Victorian budget included $311.1 million for 39 new V/Locity carriages, on top of the 48 already ordered that continue to roll off the production line.
