Emergency services in Melton had a busy weekend, responding to two dramatic incidents.
At 7.30pm on August 10, a vehicle travelling on Coburns Road was believed to have clipped a roundabout and struck a power pole – however, the exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
The collision with the power pole caused power outages in the area.
There were four occupants in the vehicle who were taken to hospital with serious injuries but no one else was hurt.
Less than eight hours later, police, paramedics and firefighters were called to a tobacco store fire on High Street.
The incident occurred at 3am on August 11 and it was reported that a car had reversed into the building before a fire was lit.
The fire did extensive damage to the store before crews arrived to put it out.
Detectives from Taskforce Lunar are investigating the circumstances and treating it as suspicious.
Anyone with information or footage for either incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
