World War I service men and women were commemorated at an Anzac Day ceremony in Diggers Rest last Friday.

Diggers Rest Primary School choir group performed Peter Barnes’ Can You Hear Australia’s Heroes Marching?, and other students read poems and laid wreaths.

School principal Rachelle Hedger said a number of community organisations, including the Diggers Rest Lions Club, came together to commemorate those who fought, served and lost their lives in WWI.

“The ceremony [was] at the cenotaph near the school … and we commemorated fallen soldiers and nurses who served in World War I,” Ms Hedger said.
