Punctuality on the Ballarat railway line is at an 18-month high, but there’s still more room for improvement, V/Line says.
Monthly performance figures published last week reveal 91.6 per cent of services on the Ballarat line arrived on time in September – up from 89 per cent in August, and the 87.1 per cent 12-month average.
V/Line spokeswoman Catalina Filip said patronage on the Ballarat line had increased by more than 12 per cent since the Regional Rail Link was improved, with more than 335,000 trips taken in September.
She said some of the reasons for last month’s delays were trespassers on tracks, train faults and signal faults.
“Our ultimate aim is to get customers to where they need to go and we are pleased Ballarat line trains continue to see improvements in punctuality,” Ms Filip said.
“V/Line acknowledges there is still room for improvement and every member of the team is dedicated to ensuring our trains are punctual so customers can get to their destinations on time.”
Ms Filip said an adjusted timetable was making a difference to the punctuality, and the Rowsley Crossing Loop was helping V/Line recover from unexpected disruptions. Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan said the last month’s performance figures were a “great result”.
