A state-of-the-art library and community hub for Ballan is on its way, with new state funding announced today.

Minister for Local Government Shaun Leane and Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle announced Moorabool council will receive $3.5 million from the Growing Suburbs Fund and $1.5 million from the latest round of the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program to deliver the project.

The Ballan Library and Community Hub will include library services, Maternal and Child Health services, an art exhibition space, visitor information centre and community meeting rooms.

This is the third round of Growing Suburbs Fund support for Moorabool, with $3.5 million in funding previously provided for the new Early Years and Community Hub at Maddingley West.

“We’re making huge investments in libraries and community facilities across the state to create local jobs and ensure Victorians have access to the resources they need in their own backyards,” Mr Leane said.

Ms Settle said the new library and hub will be a huge boost to the thriving Ballan community.

“I know this will make a huge difference to everyone in town and I can’t wait to see it open and full of life.”
