AFLW set for night grand final

This year’s AFLW Grand Final will be held at night.

The AFL confirmed the decision on Wednesday, November 6 having earlier briefed AFLW clubs on the move.

This will be the first time an AFL Grand Final, either women’s or men’s, will be held at night outside of the two Covid19 affected seasons in 2020 and 2021.

The game will be played at 7.45pm AEDT, though official details will only be confirmed once the two competing teams are known following the preliminary final weekend.

The venue for the game remains unknown, given AFLW rules dictate it is hosted by the highest-ranked qualifier.

The AFLW Grand Final has been played on both Saturday’s and Sunday’s during the competition’s eight year history, with last year’s decider between North Melbourne and Brisbane held at Ikon Park on a Sunday at 2.30pm AEDT.
