A brand new off-lead dog park was officially opened last week, much to the delight of local residents and ‘fur-babies’ alike.
Melton mayor Goran Kesic and Melton MP Steve McGhie opened Eynesbury Dog Park on Friday, December 10, with councillor Ashleigh Vandenberg also in attendance.
The park was developed to provide a safe and welcoming space for dogs to run, play, and socialise, and for neighbours to connect.
It has many features, including dog training equipment, fencing, shelter, and bench seats.
Cr Kesic said he was pleased that the park was already being enjoyed by residents.
“Our pets have a way of connecting people, and that’s what makes parks like this so special,” Cr Kesic.
“It’s about providing a safe environment for your dogs, and it’s also about creating a happy and healthy space for the people in and around Eynesbury.
“I’m proud to open this dog park, and I thank the state government for recognising the need and funding this project.”
The dog park was funded with a state government contribution of $275,000 from Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning’s Local Parks Program New Off-Leash Dog Parks Building Works Package, together with $61,000 from council.
The park is located at the Eynesbury Recreation Reserve, 3 Avoca Street, Eynesbury.
