Melton council will hold its final meeting for 2021 tonight.
Council will decide on whether to endorse the chosen projects for round three of the state government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
The projects selected by council officers include Toolern Vale public convenience upgrade, street lighting improvement program, Cobblestone green recreation reserve park upgrade, Navan park public lighting and Melton Recreation Reserve.
Included under the Melton Recreation Reserve upgrades are updating the carpark and renewing the netball courts.
Council will also respond to a notice of motion put forward by councillor Julie Shannon at the November 22 meeting regarding engagement with schools on the issue of vaping in Melton.
This is in relation to a council meeting from June 28 where council asked officers to engage with Melton school principles to discuss vaping. The report will be presented at tonight’s meeting.
Council will also respond to two petitions regarding the Melfin Drive request to remove trees on the street and for Bridgette’s Dog School to continue using the Willows Historical Park for dog training.
Amongst other points of business, there will be five notices of motion presented by councillors on subjects including writing to the federal government asking to clarify what forms of COVID vaccine certificates are deemed valid.
Also on the notices of motion agenda is a request for an initial scoping report for an Aboriginal Community Hub for Melton and a request to write a submission to the Municipal Association of Victoria in relation to the 2021-22 Rules Review.
The meeting will be held via video conference at 7pm.
