Preparing and enjoying food offers opportunities for people to share and celebrate their cultures.
That’s the aim of a new recipe book being compiled by Djerriwarrh Health to showcase the food, families and heritage of the Bacchus Marsh and Melton communities.
The compilers of Food Story hope residents will connect with each other, profile their cultures, celebrate multiculturalism and break down stereotypes.
“Initiatives such as Food Story are vital in bringing the local community together to celebrate and showcase its diversity,” a spokeswoman said.
“The Djerriwarrh Health Services health promotions team is delighted to have the opportunity to facilitate this initiative and we are looking forward to bringing the project to life over the coming months.”
Recipe submissions close on Wednesday, August 31. The book will be available as a free download from March next year to coincide with Harmony Day.
