Inaugural Bacchus Marsh makers market

Ri Van Veen, a sculptor, will be having a stall at the Bacchus Marsh Makers Market.

Bacchus Marsh’s artists and crafties will have the chance to showcase their creations at the town’s inaugural Maker’s Market.

The new market will be unveiled at the popular Strawberries and Cherries Festival this year, adding another flavour to what’s on offer locally over the November 19-20 festival weekend.

Bacchus Marsh arts council secretary David Leach said the market is about giving people an opportunity to meet the makers of art and craft works, and for the creators to showcase their methods and skills.

“We’re rejecting the concept of people who buy from suppliers and sell stuff,” Mr Leach said. “It’s about a Mrs Smith, who is a potter and provides something of very high quality.

“She will bring that product to the market, showcase and sell it, as she’s interacting with the public telling them: ‘This is what I do; here’s how I do it’.”

The market will be at the Bacchus Marsh public hall on Main Street. Details: email davidgleach@iinet.net.au or call 0416 119 381
