Police are expecting a dancefloor packed with young groovers when they host Melton’s first Blue Light Disco in more than 15 years.
The disco, to be held at Gap on Graham, is part of a wider project to engage Melton’s youth in fun and social activities in a safe setting.
Gap on Graham vice-president and Melton councillor, Bob Turner said his group had approached Melton police earlier this year to give the disco another shot.
“There’s plenty of structured things, such as sports activities, to do for youth but not a lot of unstructured things,” Cr Turner said.
“We just wanted to give young people an outlet, more than anything else.”
Police and event organisers are hoping dozens of young people come along to get their boogie on the dancefloor.
The Blue Light Disco, for children aged 7-12, will run from 6-8pm on Friday, December 9, at the Gap on Graham, 5 Graham Street, Melton. Cost is $5.
